Most of us of the older generation haven’t a clue what the teens or small ones in our family like, so we send a check. At least, they can’t hate that, we justify. Because clothing is such a personal gift --- women are choosy no matter what their age.

I remember with great pleasure the few times that I have given just the right gift. I gave my Grandson a pair of cowboy boots when he was two. He loved those boots and wore them until he got a bunion!

My son has prospered in business, and I can’t afford to thrill him with a costly present. So, since he grills every Sunday, I decided one year to give him barbecue sauce. I had so much fun collecting different brands and types that I wound up with a huge box, and he actually liked the gift!

I have received gifts that were special to me, also. I fondly remember a gift of a paper of straight pins, a roll of scotch tape, and a pair of scissors from my son when he was only seven. The reason the gift pleased me so was that it showed that he actually paid attention to me. I often decorated at our Church accompanied by Crystal and Don. Guess what I always carried with me?... Yes, pins, scotch tape and scissors. It embarrasses him now if I tell this story, so please don’t mention it to him if you see him.
